Advices are just received from Tronbrirtge that the barque Antares.. 721 tons, Captain Hutchinson, which left Adelaide in ballast, bound for New Zealand, is ashore at Marion reef, near Point Troubridge. The vessel took ground at high water, and no.v lies high and dry in a dangerous position on the reef. A tug has been sumniouud to proceed to her assistance.

The Federal Council met to-day in the Executive Council Chamber. The Select Committee, appointed to prepare Standing Orders for the guidance of the Council in the transaction of business, presented a report. The Standing Orders were, after discussion, adopted, and a committee appointed to deal with financial matters connected with the Federal Council. The following bills were then read a third time and passed :—For Condensing and Shortening the Language of issued by the Council; Authorising the Service of Civil Processes, outside the Colony issuing. The bill denning states of foreign companies and transacting business in 'he Colonies was read a second time today; but it is not intended to proceed with it any further during the present session of the Council, with the view of enabling all the colonies to acquire a full knowledge of its provisions. A motion was brought forward for the production of all papers relative to the administration of New Guinea. A debate ensued until the time for adjournment. The Council will be prorogued till Friday next, the sth inst.
