A meeting of the Board, of Health was held this afternoon, with reference to a case of diphtheria on the Boundary Track. It was stated that clothes and bedding had been exposed outside the house. The Secretary was instructed to communicate with the county authorities and also to call the attention of the police to the matter.
Commander Edwin wired at 11.12 a.m. to-day : —“ Bad weather may be expected after 10 hours from now between northeast and north and west; glass further fall.”
The Ahaura correspondent of the Grey River Argus telegraphed yesterday that Gilmer’s stables there were partly destroyed by fire at midnight, supposed to have been caused by sparks igniting dried sawdust or chaff.
A fish supposed to be a salmon trout has been caught in the Buffer River. A trout 131 b. in weight was a few days ago caught in the Wainuiomata—the stream from which Wellington gets its water supply, and presented to Admiral Tryon.
