CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

A meeting of the Charitable Aid Board was held at Hokitika on Thursday evening last; present Messrs Michel (Chairman), Crimmond, Jack, and Burger. The Times reports : Betters were read and received—

From the Education Department, Wellington, enclosing a circular containing rules for the guidance of the Board re children sent to any Industrial school.

Fiotn the Premier's office, Welling, ton, with regard to rating Crown land and stating tint the matter had been referred to the law office.

Fi om the Borough Council, Kumara, forwarding cheque for £24 10s, the levy made on the Council in connection with charitable aid, and stating the money was paid under protest.—Received.

From the Westland and Kumara Hospitals forwarding copy of petition to be forwarded to Wellington, praying that those hospitals be incorporated as separate institutions.

Telegram from Wellington, stating that the case of the Kumara and Totara Hospitals would be settled on the Premier’s return.—Referred to the Chairman and Secretary to deal with. Fiom the Treasury, Wellington stating that the sum of £225 payable to the Board.—Received. ihe receipts since the last meeting were £l2O 10s, and the expenditure £22 10s. A number of acc>n .fs were then passed for payment. ■Rosolvcd that u sum of two guineas

be voted to the country members for expenses incurred in attending meetings of the Board, and one guinea to the town members. Resolved that the monthly meetings of the Board be held on the second Tuesday in each month. The meeting then adjourned.
