(Received December 21, 2.45 p.m.) Sydney, December 21. A fire, which eventually obtained alarming proportions, broke out on Saturday night at Albury, New South Wales. The flames destroyed the entire block in which the Australian Mutual Provident Society offices were situated, and spread to the printing office of the Albury Banner newspaper, which was burned to the ground. The total loss is estimated at £25,000, the balk of which is covered by insurance. (Received December 22, 12.55 p.m.) Melbourne, December 22. The dispute between the Melbourne wharf labourers and shipowners remains unsettled. It is possible that srrangements may be come to to-day, otherwise the men, to the number of 400, will go out on strike.
