A most disastrous fire broke out yesterday at the warehouse of MessiS Crooke and Brooker, Port Adelaide, the whole of which was completely destroyed. Some other adjoining warehouses had a narrow escape. Messrs Crooke and Brooker estimated the damage at £3600 to £4OOO. The loss is covered by insurance to the amount of £2500, in which all the principal companies are interested. (Received December 19, 2.15 p.m.) Melbourne, December 18. The Hon. Jas. Service (Premier) aud the Hon. Graham Berry (Colonial Secretary) will represent the colony of Victoria at the forthcoming Federal Council at Hobart. The Hon. G. B. Kerferd will accompany them as legal adviser. (Received December 21, 1 a in.) Sydney, December 20. Arrived, this afternoon, the steamship Waihora, from Auckland. (Received December 21, noon.) December 21. Sir John Robertson is meeting with serious obstacles in his attempt to form a Cabinet. Several of the gentlemen whose names have been mentioned as his colleagues have declined to accept portfolios; and it is now considered doubtful whether he will succeed in forming a Ministry. Brisbane, December 21. Another death from cholera has occurred among the Dorunda's passengers, and several other suspicions cases are in existence. [Per s.s. Rotomahana, at Auckland.] Sydney, December 11. The murderer Matthew Forrest was executed at Grafton yesterday. Mr G. A. Sala left yesterday for Hobart. A charge is being 'aid against Lieut. Airey for want of zeal and energy when on active service in the Soudan. Good rain has fallen during the last few hours. Melbourne. December 7. The Governor assented to the Federal Council Act, adopting the Bill. In the Shops Bill a clause passed that shops should close at seven.
