COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE. THE QUESTION OF ADMINISTRATION OF BURMAH. (Received December 7, 1 a.m.) London, December 5. The Liberal candidates continue to triumph in the farming counties. For Lancashire, the Conservatives only secured two seats out of seven. For Inverness-shire, Mr C. M'Kenzie, representative of the crofters, defeated
Mr Kenneth Mackenzie; and M'Leod, a crofter candidate, has also secured Argyleshire. The elections will finish on Wednesday next, the 9tb inst. Among the members who have lost their seats at the present election are Sir Wilfred Lawson, Sir Farter Herschcll, and J. B. Burleigh. The Bt. Hon. Sir W. H. Dyke has been reelected for Kent (Middlesex). The total quantity of wheat afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,480,000 quarters, being 100,000 quarters less than last week. New Zealand frozen mutton has increased in value, and to-day realised from 4-Jd to 5d per lb. in the Smithfield Market. The Australian mails, dated Melbourne October 30, per steamship Aostral, were delivered to-day, via Naples. (Received December 7, 1.30 p.m.) December 6. The Liberals have secured 311 seats, the Conservatives 244, and the Parnellites 67. (Received December 7, 1 am.) Calcutta, December 5. Earl Duflrerin, Governor-General of India, in replying to an address presented to him by the citizens of Lucknow, stated that it would be a matter of careful consideration whether Burmah should be united, or whether it would better to remodel the administration of Burmah. [special to press association.] London, December 2. The Servians are clamoring for war. Germany admits her occupation of the Marshall Island. Information received from Cairo states that 5000 rebel Arabs are attacking Khoshay. The 2nd Battalion of the Essex Regiment will be sent to reinforce the British garrison. The Tories have won the election at North Armagh and North Derry. Mr J. E. Gorst has defeated Sir L. Massey Lopes. Lord Kensington, Mr Samuel Walker, and Mr J. D. Peddie have been defeated.
