WESTLAND HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The Board met at 3 p.m. yesterdiiy, in the County Council Chambers, Hokitika • present Messrs Michel (Chairman), Grimmond, Jack, and Burger. Tho minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and the outward correspondence read and approved. The following are the minutes of yesterday's meeting : The Chairman reported to the meeting that John Hanlon had l>een sent to the Industrial School at Nelson, aud that the cost of maintenance, 8s per week, would be charged to the Board from the date of the child's arrival at Nelson. Resolved—That the sum of 30s be paid to Mrs Harrington for taking care of John Hanlon from the 2nd to the 23rd inst. Mr Burger reported that subsidies due to the Honiara Hospital, from Government, had been received by the Kuraara Hospital Committee. Resolved That the contributing bodies to the several hospitals and charitable institutions in the district, be sub-divided as follows :—Hokitika Hospital and Benevolent Society, the Westland County Council and Hokitika Borough Council, Ross Hospital and Benevolent Society, the Westland County Council and Ross Borough Council, Kuniara Hospital and Benevolent Society, the Westland County Council and the Kuraara Borough Council. Resolved—That a levy be made on the local contributing bodies for the maintenance of the hospitals and charitable institutions in the district, in accordance with the return made out by the Secretary ; snid moneys to be collected by the Board monthly, and the first payment to be made by the contributing bodies on or before the 15th December prox. Resolved—That for future meetings of the Board three members present form a quorum. Th=u the sum of £6 be voted for clerical assistance required previous to the appointment of the Secretary. Resolved That Mr Park be appointed solicitor to the B)ard. The Board then adjourned.
