TO CORRESPONDENTS,

Burmah has an area stated by one authority to be 188,000 square miles, by another 192,000 square miles, or nearly double the area of the three islands of New Zealand put together, which is 100,000 square miles. The population of the Burman empire is between three and four millions. British Burmah has a coast line of 900 miles, and a total area of 88,550 square miles. The whole of this territory was taken from the king of Burmah in the two wars provoked by him. The population of British Burmah is about 2,750,000, the Burmans numbering nearly two millions. We shall not be surprised if the result of the present war be that Great Britain will annex the whole empire or kingdom of Burmah to British India.
