There is some anxiety felt for the safety of the schooner Awaroa, which left Wanganui for Nelson ten days ago, with a carge of cattle. Captain Gibbons, of the steamer Waverley, which arrived here yesterday, reports that he made search in the neighborhood of the Sounds, but could find no trace of her. He states that it was intended to send the steamer Lady Barkley to Port Underwood in search of this missing vessel, but that had not been done when he left, owing to the very boisterous weather. After the Awaroa left Wanganui, a very severe gale was experienced in Cook Strait, and it is feared that some mishap has happened. She is owned by Mr J. Cross, of Nelson, and was under the command of Captain Currin.
