[REUTER'S TELEGRAMS.] 1-5 y Electric Telegraph—Copyright. QUARTERLY REVENUE RETURNS. NEW SOUTH WALES LOAN OF £5,500,000. DEATH OF THE EARL OF SHAFTESBURY. (Received October 2, 0.45 a.m.) London, October 1. The quarterly revenue returns issued by the Treasury shew a falling off of £600,000 as compared with the corresponding period of 1884. (Received October 2, 12.45 p.m.) Evening. Tenders arc invited on behalf of New South Wales for the loan of £5,500,000, at three and a half per cent. The minimum is fixed at £9l. Tenders will be opened on the 7th inst. The death is announced, at the age of 84, of the Earl of Shaftesbury.
