Druiumond Wolff, Envoy Extraordinary to the Porte, has had four meetings with the officials appointed by the Sultan to confer with him on the Egyptian question. So far no definite result is obtainable Cairo, September 15. It is cuirently reported here that Slid Pasha, Grand Vizier of Turkey, has been ordered by the Sultan to visit E:'ypt, but the news in not officially confirmed. (Received September 16, 12.30 p.m.) Paris, September 15. The Government is in receipt of a despatch from General De Courcy, commanding the French forces in Tonquin, stating that in consequence of the recent attack on the citadel at Hue by the Anamite troops, he (General De Courcy) has dethroned the reigning King of Anam, and placed Chan Dorg on the throne in his stead. Berlin, September 15. The German Admiralty is engaged at present in the equipment of a special squadron for service in the Atlantic station. The vessels are to be ready shortly. ♦ • [special to press association. [ London, September 11. The sentence of death passed on Louis Riel, the insurgent, has been affirmed. The captain of the Spanish man-of-war stationed at Uap during the recent seizure of that place by Germany, shot,
the Spinish Governor of the island in the shoulder for ordering some of the crew to attack the Germans. Prince Bismarck, in a despatch, states that the possession of Ihe Carolines is not sufficient inducement to tempt Germany to be unfriendly with Spain. September 13. In the four mile race between W. C. George, of Birmingham, and W. Cu coinings, of Paisley, the latter won. The Archbishop of Aix, a city in the Department of Bouche du Rhone, France, has died from cholera.
