(Received September 15, 1 p.m.) September 15. The prevailing drought has to a great extent broken up. Heavy rains have fallen in many of the country districts. The action for damages brought by the Bank of New South Wales against the Government, which had arisen out of the withdrawal from the bank of the loan business of the Government, has been concluded, but the result is subject to the decision of a full Court. (Received September 14, 2.30 p.m.) Melbourne, September 14. Heavy rains have fallen during the past four days in Victoria and Riverina, where they were greatly required. (Received September 15, 1 p.m.) September 15. Acting on the suggestion of the Government of Western Australia, Mr Service has proposed that the Governments of Fiji and "Western Australia have seats on the Federal Council, to be held in Hobart early in 1886.
