[united press association.] Timaru, Septembsr 5. Louisa Cameron, aged 22 years, who was formerly teacher in the public school here, was found drowned on the rocks this morning at 5.30. She was in weak health, and left home last evening at half-past past eight o’clock. Not returning, a search party was organised with the above result. Westport, September 5. The s.s. Mahinapua, which arrived from Nelson this morning, reports a fire on the beach at the Spit, near West Wanganui’lnlet, where it is supposed there are some shipwrecked sailors. FATAL BOAT ACCIDENT.—FOUR LIVES LOST. Port Chalmers, September 6. A boat containing eleven persons was capsized this forenoon in the lower harbor, below Acheron Head, when James Alexander, John and Mary Ferguson, children of Captain James Ferguson, local agent of the Union Company, and Christina Jackson, his niece, were drowned. Three of the bodies have not yet been recovered. Captain Ferguson is greatly exhausted, and fears are entertained for him. The rest of the persons are doing well. There was a strong south-west gale blowing at the time of the accident.
