CORRESPONDENCE.

The Editor does not, necessarily, adopthe opinions expressed by correspondents. THE CODE OF RULES FOR THE SLUDGE-CHANNEL. [to the editor.] Sir—With your permission I wish to bring the following matter under the notice of your readers using the sludge-channel. We have now been twelve months working under rules which, if enforced, would render 25 out of the 30 claims working into the sludge-channel valueless. And we know from experience what would be the result if our friend the Major and his team should get back into office (which may happen at any time judging from the state of affairs at Wellington). Now, the matter referred to is this. At a meeting of the claimholders held in Dillman’s a code of Rules wes adopted, which were to be signed by each party represented, and forwarded to the Minister of Mines. But after leaving them at the place agreed upon to be signed for a fortnight or more, only eight parties out of 23 represented signed them; and, in consequence, I did not think I would be justified in sending them away, and they have not been sent. Mr Seddon has written to me to know what has become of the rules we drew up, or if I had forwarded them to the Minister, as he is anxious to get it put right before he leaves. Now, if any parties feel interested enough to come to Dill man’s and sign them any time this week, they can do so, and I will send them by next Tuesday’s mail. By inserting the above in your valuable paper you will oblige, William Morris. Dilhnan’s Town, September 2, 1885.
