The cholera epidemic is decreasing in violence in Spain, also in Marseilles; but at Toulon the disease is spreading, and the number of deaths is on the increase. An outbreak of the disease is also reported at Trievier, in Italy, and great precautions are being taken to prevent its spread in the country. It is probable that an interview will shortly take place beween the Marquis of Salisbury and M. De Freycinet, French Minister for Foreign Affairs. Dieppe is mentioned as the locality for the meeting. (Received September 1, 1. a.m.) August 31. Arrived, the ship Northumberland, with 14,000 carcases of frozen meat, from Napier, June 4tb. Constantinople, August 31. Sir Henry Drummond Woolf, who is charged with a special mission from England to the Porte, was received at a special audience by the Sultan. Sir Henry read a message from her Majesty the Queen expressing a hope that the Sultan would lend his aid to put an end to the present complications existing in Egypt. The Sultan replied that he set great value upon an alliance with the Queen, and that he would appoint suitable persons to discuss the Egyptian question with Sir Drummond Woolf. (Received September 1, 1.15 p.m.) Hong-Kong, August 13. Intelligence from Japan states that the cholera has made its appearance at Nagasaki.
