A case of small-pox has been discovered on board the Messageries Maritimes steamship Oceanien. The vessel arrived in Port Jackson twelve days ago, and the medical authorities are informed that the eruption was visible on the third day after the vessel's arrival. (Received August 10, 12.15 p. m. August 10. In consequence of the discovery of small-pox on board the Messageries steamer Oceanien, the vessel has been placed in the quarantine station. The case is stated to be of an extremely serious nature. Arrived, on Saturday evening, the Wakatipu, from Wellington.
