KUMARA HOSPITAL
The ordinary fortnightly meeting of the Hospital Cornmitree was held in the Town Hall last evening ; present— Mr G. R. Rudkin (in the chair), Messrs Voysey, Burger, Watson, Ziegler, Wildridge, Wooldridge, and I. Hannah. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The outward correspondence was read and approved of, being a letter from the Secretary to G. S. Cooper, Esq., Undersecretary, enclosing several documents, viz., 1, copy of advertisement calling for applicants to the post of surgeon ; 2, copy of minute appointing Dr. Davy ; 3, copy of minute instructing the House Committee to instal him; 4, copy of minute stating that the Bouse Committee had done so; 5, copy of agreement submitted at last meeting, but held over for consideration. The inward correspondence consisted of one telegram only, which was received, as follows: To . the Chairman Hospital Committee, Kumara. Government request Major Keddell and myself to hold inquiry into dismissal and appointment of medical officer. Will give you early notice of time. J. Giles, R.M. Hokitika, August 4, 1885. Mr Burger moved that the anuual meeting of subscribers to the Hospital be held on the 18tfa inst., at 8 p.m., and that the Treasurer (Mr Ziegler), the present Chairman (Mr Rudkin), and the Secretary (Mr R, E. Wylde) he requested to draw up the annual report, to be submitted at a special meeting of the Committee to be held at 7 p.m. on the same evening. The motion was seconded by Mr Wooldridge, and carried. On the motion of Mr Burger, seconded by Mr Wildridge, it was resolved that the memorandum of agreement between Dr. Davy and the Committee be held over till next meeting. The Wardsraan’s monthly Report was read and received. It showed that the total number of in-patients treated during the mouth of July was 15, of which number three were discharged cured, three had died, and nine remained in the Hospital. Frederick Andrews, a school hoy, of diseased bone in leg, Thomas Hunt, also a school boy, of accident, and Mrs Whitmore, of epistaxis, were discharged cured. James Montgomery, James Litchfield, and Antonio Rossi died. Those who remained in were A. Carlstrom, Win. Bain, Marshal M‘Cahon, Patrick Skehan, Mrs Hope, Mrs Caldwell, John Rouse, Nicholas Calvi, and Mrs Kelly. On the motion of Mr Burger, it was resolved that the House Committee be requested to see that a record be kept in the Hospital of all out-patients treated, and their complaints. Accounts to the amount of £9O 2s fid were passed for payment. Some accounts for medicine were held over till next meeting. Messrs Rudkin and Ziegler were instructed to confer with the executors of the late James Montgomery, James Litchfield, and Guiseppi Dalessi. The Secretary was instructed to write to the County Council asking for for the usual subsidy. Receipts were handed in as follows: By Mr Voysey, £2 10s; Mr Wooldridge, £2; Mr Rudkin, £3; Mr Watson, 10s; and by the Wardsmau (Mr Ross), £1 fis fid. This concluded the business of the meeting.
