By an order in Council dated 28th October, 1884, the rates of postage on cor - respondence transmitted via Suez aaul Brindisi are in future to be as follow : 1. That, on and after the fifteenth eta- y of November next, the rate of postage t' o be paid on all letters, book-packets, aju i newspapers transmitted from New Zealain d to any place in the United. Kingdom c>f Great Britain and Ireland by way of S iu ;z and Brindisi shall be and the same is hereby fixed as herein set forth, that is- to sayOn all letters, one shilling per halfounce or-fraction of half an ounce ; On all book-packets and pare eL >, threepence for every two ounces or fraction of two ounces ; On all newspapers, twopence each.
