RATES OF POSTAGE YIA SUFZ AND BRINDISI.
By an order in Council dated 28th. 'October, 1884, the rates of postage on •correspondence transmitted via Suez .and Brindisi are in future to be as follow :r- - 1. That, on and after the fifteenth -day of November next, the rate of postal r*. to be paid on all letters, a ,nd newspapers transmitted from New Zea la nd to any place in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland by way of (Suez and Brindisi shall be and the sam e is hereby fixed as herein set forth, that is to say— On all letters, one shilling per ’halfounce or fraction of half an ou m;e ; On all book-packets and parcels, threepence for every two ounce ;s. or fraction of two ounces ; On all newspapers, twopence eacl i. The said postage shall, in all such c; is les, be prepaid in New Zealand by posf;agestamps, to be affixed upon the covers of the letters, book packets, or newspa.p ers so sent. 2. That on all correspondence rece h r cd in New Zealand in mails despatched f r om the United Kingdom on and after the date aforesaid, and which has not l oe 'en prepaid in postage-stamps at the foregoing rates, a surcharge equal to the equivalent of the difference between the rates a; for esaid and the postage actually affixed! >:o the correspondence shall be niade.
