Next to that of the Lord High Chancellor is the salary of the Lord Chief Justice of England, £BOOO. The Field-Marshal Commander-in-Chief of the Army gets £6,632. There are four judges who receive each £6OOO per annum ; and twenty-seven other Judges, £SOOO each. We could name scores of other Government officers in Great Britain with salaries of £IOOO and over.
