LICENSING COURT.
Monday, June 15. The Licensing Committee for the Licensing District of the Borough of Kumara, after adjournment by request for a fortnight, met again to-day. The hour appointed for opening the Court was 12 noon, but it was 1.5 p.m. before the Committee took their seats on the Bench. All the Committee were present, viz., Messrs J. O'Hagan (Chairman), Nicholson, Burger, Davies, and Maloney. Mr D. Han nan appeared for several applicants. Sergeant Russell was in attendance to report and answer inquiries. The following applications for li. censes and renewals of licenses were dealt with : NEW APPLICATIONS FOR OLD LICENSED HOUSES. Johanna Stewart, Gilbert Stewart's Hotel.—Granted; 12 n'clock. William Keech, Greymouth Hotel.— Application withdrawn. RENEWALS. 0. W. Anderson, Theatre Royal— Granted; 12 o'clock B. Bremond, Biemond's Hotel.— Grauted; 10 o'clock, H. Fitzsimons, Dundalk Hotel— Granted; 10 o'clock. J. Gilbert, Sluicers Arms.—Granted"; 10 o'clock. Bridget M. Harrison, Shamrock Hotel.—Granted; 10 o'clock. James Home, National Hotel.— Granted; 12 o'clock. Mary Kean, Adelphi Hotel— Granted; 10 o'clock. Margaret Kettles, Bank HotelGranted ; 10 o'clock. William Killeen, Killeen's Hotel.— Granted; 11 o'clock. Michael Murphy, Slattery's Hotel— Granted; 10 o'clock. John Mnlvihill, Court House Hotel— Granted ; 10 o'clock. B. J. O'Rourke, Post Office HotelGranted ; 10 o'clock. James Preston, Criterion HotelGranted; 11 o'clock. Mary Annßitson, Greymouth HotelGranted ; 10 o'clock. Keech and Malloy applied (under date 4th June) that James Malloy be granted a license for the Kumara Hotel, in manner following :—«Whereas James Rugg, the licensee, has been legally ejected from the licensed premises, we, the owner and proposed new teuant thereof, make application, under section 94 of the ' Licensing Act,' for a special certificate of transfer of the publican's license of said premises, together with the renewal of such license (now under application) in such form as you shall think applicable."—Sergeant Russell said he had no objection to offer. The application was granted in manner applied for; 12 o'clock. Nathan Seddon, Queen's HotelGranted; 11 o'clock. Jean Spindeler, Crown HotelGranted ; 12 o'clock. Francis Upham, Morning Star.— Under the circumstances, Mr Upham being invalided, Mrs Upham was granted permission to carry on for six months; 10 o'clock. Louis Ziegler, Empire Hotel—--12 o'clock. BOTTLE LICENSE. W. J. M'llroy.—Granted.
