[united press association.] Wanganui, June 10. At the inqnest on Mrs Adamson, of Hawera, the verdict was returned that deceased committed suicide while temporarily insane. Timaru, June 10. During the trial of Lucas for wounding his wife, with intent, an extraordinary scene occurred. Prisoner averred that his wife was perjuring herself because of the hatred she had taken to him and for sake of " t that tall Chinaman." He declared that he was not, and could prove it, the father of his wife's child. He pressed for an examination, and he and Drs. M'Cantyre and Hogg retired for the purpose. After a quarter of an hour they returned into Court and the medical men informed his Honor that prisoner was the victim of a particular species of hallucination. The trial then proceeded. Later. The criminal business concluded today. Lucas, for grievous bodily harm to his wife, was found guilty and sentenced to five years' hard labor. Trengrove, for assaulting his wife, was found guilty and sentenced to three years. The civil business will be taken to-morrow. Wellington, June 10.
