♦ At the Thames (London) Police Court recently a respectably-dressed woman applied for a summons against her husband. The Magistrate: Has he been illusing you ? Applicant: Yes, sir. The Magistrate : Has he struck you 1 Applicant : Not exactly, sir. The Magistrate : Then what has he done ? l\m must state all the facts before I can grant you a summons. Applicant: He squeezes me so hard that he hurts me, and I am sure that he has put my heart out of place 1 ? [Loud laughter.] He says he means to do for me that way, and then I shall not l»e able to show any marks of his violence, and people won't know what killed rue.
