SUNBEAMS GOLDEN FROM THE THRONE.

0 ! beautiful world, how false and cold The traitor hearts I have found to-day! Tinkling brass, with the stamps of gold, Wintry winds in the years of May, Yet over my soul when bow’d in woe, Broken-hearted, I wander lone ; The dear stars shine With rays divine— Sunbeams golden from the Throne. 0 ! beautiful eyes, how fair and blue ! How many hearts must mourn and ache ? Why do they flash in the summer true, In wintry times a true heart break ? Yet over my soul a sense of pain Will throw its shadow, sad and lone— Yet sweet birds sing In months of spring— Sunbeams golden from tjfe Throne. 0 ! beautiful days, of long ago When hearts were true, and my love was young, Where are the golden words you said 1 Where are the songs my true heart sung? Yet over my soul comes sweet and low A song of hope in midnight lone— For angels chime Sweet lays divine— Sunbeams golden from the Throne. W. R. Wills. Otahuhu, March 18, 1885.
