THE SACRED CONCERT.

The sacred concert given on Sunday evening at the Theatre Royal by the members of the Rita-Radcliff company of musicians was highly successful. The company were assisted by Mr A. Miller, who gave two violin solos, and by Messrs Walker, Heard, and Wilby, gentlemen each possessed of tine baritone voices. Previous to commencing the concert Mr Radeliff requested that the day being Sunday, there should be no loud demonstrations of approval or encores. The concert was opened by Mr ClutSfim playing the pianoforte music of Ketterer’s “ Moses in Egypt.” Songs and music then alternated somewhat as follows Solo by Mr Wilby, “ When the Lord shall build up Zion ;” Violin Solo, “Dona Nobis,” Mr A. Miller; “ Are Maria,” Madame Rita singing and playing the pianoforte accompaniment, Mr Radeliff the flute, and Mr Clutsam the harmonium. This was the gem of the evening, producing the most harmonious and sublime effect, and, notwithstanding the intimation given at the outset, some two or three persons could not restrain themselves from giving vent to their emotional feelings. Then followed—- “ He Wipes the Tear from every Eye,” solo by Mr Heard ; Grand Flute solo, by Mr Radeliff; « Nazareth,” solo by Mr Walker; “ The Bright Seraphim,” by the Company; Heller’s “ Ave Maria,’ piano solo, by Mr Clutsam; “ Oh, what beauty, Lord appears,” solo by Mr Wilby; “ 0 rest in the Lord,” flute solo, by Mr Radeliff; “Pro peccatis” (from “ Stabat Mater”), Mr Walker; “Ye shall go with Me,” violin, Mr Miller; «He shall feed his flock,” solo by Mr Heard; “The Angels Vision,” flute and pianoforte—a sweet harmonious composition. The concert was highly appreciated throughout. The Rita-Radcliff Company took their departure by yesterday afternoon’s tram for Grey mouth, and proceed to Wanganui by direct steamer, and will make a tour of the North Island. We wish them such a prosperous career in New Zealand as their high accomplishments deserve.
