[REUTER’S TELEGRAMS.] By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. FIJI GOVERNMENT APPOINTMENTS. THE BRITISH IRONCLAD FLEET. (Received May 26, 2.30 p.m.) London, May 25. It is announced that the Hon. J. B. Thurston, Colonial Secretary of Fiji, has been appointed Lieutenant. Governor of that colony. Sir A. E. Havelock, K.C.M.G., will probably be appointed Governor of Fiji, in succession to Sir Geo. Win. Des Yoeux. (Received May 27, 1.15 a.m.) May 26. The fleet of ironclads which have been assembled at Portland, under the command of Admiral Hornby, will start immediately for a cruise. It is said to be undertaken for the object of elaborating a number of naval manoeuvres for future use. Per Merchant Shipping and Underwriter’s Association : London, May 24. Arrived, the ship Hermoine, from Auckland, January 27; the Scoiia, from Lyttelton, February 23.
