THE NIGHTINGALE'S MISSING BOAT'S CREW. SAILING OF THE ARMED CRUISER MASSILIA. JOINT RESPONSIBILITY RE HOSTILE CRUISERS. (Received May 8, 10.35 p.m.) Sydney, May 8. Sailed, the Hauroto, for Wellington, this afternoon. Inquiries have been made of all incoming, vessels regarding the missing boat's crew of the Nightingale, but up to the present, no trace has been found of the boat or its occupants. The fitting-up and arming of the Peninsular and Oriental Company's steamship Massilia as a cruiser has been completed, and she sailed to-day from this port on her first cruise. (Received May 9, 1.15 a.m.) Melbourne, May 8. Arrived, the Te Anau, from the Bluff.
The Government of Victoria and South Australia have endorsed the circular sent out by the Hon. Mr Dalley in regard to the responsibility of the colonies for injuries inflicted by hostile cruisers.
