M.—Herat is situated in the north-west of Afghanistan. From thence to India via Kandahar (400 miles), Chaman (another 80), Quetfca (GO), and to the Indian Railway Terminus at the Bolan Pass (70), would be GlO, with auother 100 miles to the Indus or into India. By the more direct route to India, via Kabul and Peshawur, the distance is also several hundred miles, computed as follows :—Herat to Kabul, 493 ; Kabul to Peshawur, 180 ; total, about G7O. In a few days we intend to publish a Map of Afghanistan, showiug the disputed frontier lines and all other points of present interest. J. S.B.—Georgetown, the capital of British Guiana, is situated at the mouth, and on the right or eastern shore, of the river Demerara, in latitude G° 40' 20" N. } and longitude 58° 11' 30" W.— Cayenne is in latitude 4° 56' N., and longitude 52° 20' W.
