London, April 23. It is rumored that the Czar of Russia is shortly to be crowned as Emperor of Central Asia.
The British Military mission at Teheran will probably prepare for an expedition to Meshed.
[Meshed is a city in the north-east of Persia, being the capital of the Province of Khorassau. It stands in a fertile plain, and is enclosed by strong walls, the population being about 50,000.]
Adelaide, April 28. Captain Helmes, of the steamer Menmuir, which has arrived in Adelaide from Singapore, states that when he lefi Batavia there were two Russian ironclads in port, their water having run short. Water had been apportioned to each vessel in small quantities, but the Russians were in such a hurry that they emptied the water boat and sailed away just before Captain Helmes’ de-
parture. A telegram has been received stating the arrival of two other Russian cruisers at Batavia.
