CONVERSAZIONE IN THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

[to the editor] Sir—This has been one of the pleasantest reunions that has ever been held in Kuraara. The house was well filled by members of the congregation, with their wives and daughters, by whom an excellent tea was provided and served very deftly by the ladies, to whom too much praise cannot be given; with excellent music; a beautiful solo was given by the lady organist and violinist, with most excellent singing, with a good report and balance-sheet for the past year, which put the members present in high good humour at finding their church in such a flourishing state, wluui* seems cu be 4ue to thu

indefatigable efforts of their excellent pastor. Indeed the balance-sheet is such that any church might be proud of, and the resolutions of confidence in their pastor show that the congregation and their pastor are in perfect accord. The whole of the evening would have passed pleasantly but for some half dozen men that seemed to be under the influence of the rosy god. It is a pity that such men dont retire into the arms of morpheas to dream rosy dreams, and not try to destroy the pleasure and harmony of such a pleasant reunion as this, as I think many more such would tend to do more good than many of the sermons one hears, as it tends to unite friendship and create a pleasure to meet in the House of God. Observer. Kumara, March 4, 1885.
