HOSPITAL COMMITTEE ELECTION.
[to the editor.] Sir—l am truly thankful to say that I am not troubled with that dangerous malady “ Cacoethes scribendi” on the brain, nor am I in the habit as a rule of rushing into print; therefor e I shall say only a few words with reference to Mr Monckton : s effusion which appeared in yesterday’s issue of your paper. It is so entirely devoid of refinement and dignity, and withal so scurrilously worded, that I think I should be wanting in common sense and self esteem did I treat the statements contained therein in any other way than with supreme contempt. I have lived in this district for 16 years and in all probability shall remains some years longer; for I am thoroughly convinced that Mr Monckton’s puerile emanation will not damage me in the estimation of the majority of the population one iota.—l am, &c., J. W. W. Eyison. January 20, 1885.
