Auckland, January 12. The Hinemoa is still at Waiwera. Information from the authorities states that the decision now rests with the Home Government, with whom the Agent-General is in communication. W. S. Buttle, engineer of the steamer Rangiora, in the Wakatu river fell overboard below Mercer and was drowned.

Wellington, January 13. Mr James Janiieson, manager of the Union Bank of Australia, expired at one o'clock this morning, after an illness lasting only a few hours. He ;ippeared at the bank yesterday in his usual health, but about mid-day he was suddenly seized with pain in the abdomen. Medical aid was summoned, but Mr Jamieson gradually sank. The cause of death/was intestinal inflammation.
