Auckland, January 12. The Hinemoa is still at Waiwera. Information from the authorities states that the decision now rests with the Home Government, with whom the Agent-General is in communication. January 13. The Hinemoa was lying ah Hawera with her fires banked up when the Rose Casey left to-day. J. James, Secretary Auckland Grammar School Trust, was found dead at Mason's Ediths, wheie lie was taking an air bath. It its supposed he had u fit.
Julius Denmor, a French Canadian sailor, found ill at his lodgings, died shortly after. A. tumbler with a .sediment of arsenic was found in his room. Six Musket yearlings belonging to the New Zealand Stud Company were shipped to Sydney by the s.s. Te Anau; also, Pilbrow'd Welcome Jack and Clarence.
W. S. Buttle, engineer of the steamer Rangiora, in the Wakatu river fell overboard below Mercer and was drowned.
Wellington, January 13. Mr James Janiieson, manager of the Union Bank of Australia, expired at one o'clock this morning, after an illness lasting only a few hours. He ;ippeared at the bank yesterday in his usual health, but about mid-day he was suddenly seized with pain in the abdomen. Medical aid was summoned, but Mr Jamieson gradually sank. The cause of death/was intestinal inflammation.
Christchurch, January 12. The weather is very cold, with snowon the hills.
