CHRISTMAS SPORTS
There was a good attendance at the Town Hall last night of gentlemen willing to form a Committee to provide sports for the Christmas holidays. Mr Pearn was voted to the chair.
On the motion of Mr Pearn, seconded by Mr Home, it was resolved that sports be held in the Recreation Ground, Kumara, on the 26th and 27th inst., and that a committee be formed for the purpose of arranging and carrying out the same. The following gentlemen were constituted a Sports Committee :—Messrs Pearn, Nicholson, Home, Gilbert Stewart, Bnrger, R. J. Seddon, Hannan, Ziegler' Pierson, Stanich, W. Barnett, Fitzsimons, Killeen, Barrett, Spindeler, Mulvihill, Rugg, 0. W. Auderson, Murphy, Mansfield, Wiesner; with power to add to their number.
Mr J. S. Peavn was elected Chairman, Mr G. Wood Secretary, and Mr H. Burger Treasurer.
Messrs Pearn and Rugg were elected to canvass Main street for subscriptions ; and Messrs Gilbert Stewart, Fitzsimons, 0. W. Anderson, and Burger to canvass Seddon street for same purpose ; the gentlemen appointed to canvass the town -on Wednesday, and report progress same evening, at the Town Hall.
The meeting was then adjourned till this (Wednesday) evening, at 8 o'clock.
