TO THE EDITOR.
Sib—ln reading the Kumara Times last night I was surprised when perusing "Society's" production to heir that nine-tenths of the community were of his way of thinking. Now I should like to ask "Society" if his sentiments are the sentiments of the lodge that he is a member of? —I think not. Now if " Society " is au Oddfellow and the champion of fair play, as he would try and lead the public to believe, why not take up the cudgels in favour of one of his brothers ? By so doing he would have conferred a great boon on me, as well as upon the lodge that I belong to. Now, sir, I 'have been very ill for the past five months, and since the 26th of August have been compelled to seek treatment apart from the lodge for which I have to pay ; and which I assure you, sir, comes very hard upon a man who has not been able to earn a sixpence during that time. It appears to me that " Society " knows very little of the subject that he has been writing upon ; and I should advise him, before he puts his per? to paper, to consult his brother members, and test the feelings of the lodge of which he may be a member; and I have no doubt he will find his opinions greatly in the minority.—l remain, sir, yours, <fcc, An Oddfellow of Fifteen Years' Standing. .Westbrook, November 29, 1884.
