THE PORTFOLIO OF MINISTER OF MINES.
[GREY RIVER ARGUS.] A Wellington correspondent writes that it is rumoured the new portfolio of Minister of Mines will be conferred on either Captain Morris, member for Tauranga, or Mr Cadman, member for Coromandel, It is absurd in the extreme, and cannot help leaving the Ministry open to the suspicion that the creation of this additional portfolio was done more with the object of acquiring support than benefiting the miners. We are very reluctant to believe that there is any foundation for the rumour, and were it not that is reproduced in those papers that support this newfledged u popular and Liberal Ministry," we should be inclined to treat the thing as one of those canards that fly about so thickly while Parliament is in session. But assuming that it really is true the Government intend to carry out their promise to appoint a new portfolio for Mines, how is it possible they have come to overlook the transcendent qualifications of the redoubtable Mr Seddon for the office ? This is a most unpardonable oversight. We begin to be afraid after all°tbat the present Ministry have not a bit more sympathy with the miners than the last. However, we shall await with some interest the developments of the occasion in resprct to this appointment which is of the greatest possible importance to gold miners and the goldmining industry.
believe they were the same as Hop Bitters. All such pretended remedies or cures, no matter what their style or name is, and especially those with the word "Hop" or "Hops" in their name or in any way connected with them or their name, are imitations or counterfeits. Beware of them. Touch none of them. Use nothing but genuine Arrerican Hop Bitters, with a bunch or cluster of green Hops on the white label, and Dr. Soule's name blown in the glass. Trust nothing else. Druggists and Chemists are warned against dealing in imitations or counterfeits.
