[united press association.] Invercargill, October 6. A young man named Francis Campbell, a carpenter at East Invercargill, committed suicide on Saturday by shooting himself through the head with a revolver. He had been suffering from ill health for some time, and this, coupled with the suddeu illness of his mother, appears to have unhinged his mind. Auckland, October 6. Great sympathy is expressed here for Mr A. Isaacs, owner of Krupp, a racehorse, which died at Christchurch today. Mr Isaacs paid £BOO for the colt, and was offered £IOOO three weeks ago for it. The colt was backed to win £2OOO for the Canterbury Derby. Later. Krupp, the racehorse, was insured to cover all risks, for £SOO by bis owner. Wellington, October 6. This morning his Excellency the Governor presented to Master William Rankin the bronze medal and certificate awarded by the Royal Humane Society through their Australasian branch. The award was made in recognition of yonng Rankin’s bravery in jumping into the harbor and rescuing a little boy named Pearce, who was drowning.
