Paddy has sung of hjs Terry ; Murphy has told of M‘Kow. Let me sing of Micky of Kerry, Big Michael, of Kerry, you know ! I can’t spin out verse like me frind, Kor pothry make by the foot ; So a long yarn I do not intend, As my muse cannot sphake like Pat’s book.
Mick came to the Coast, and went south, And lived near the song of the tui, The Maoris a stream where he died Called the “Big Mick,” that means “ Micky-nui. ”
The Rossites that same place well know, Famed for races, shilalies, and row, Your Terry I’ve tried to race too, But Mike can’t come up with M‘Kow. Boat-a-Sxern. [“Nui” in the Maori stands for “big,” and the river referred to is the Mikonui.— Ed. K. T.]
