ABANDONMENT of THE YACHT MIGNONETTE. CANNIBALISM OF THREE OF THE SURVIVORS. DESPATCH OF BOATS FOR SERVICE ON THE NILE. (Received September 8, 0.40 a.m.) London, September 6. The cargo of frozen mutton ex steamship Bombay has been landed in excellent condition. A boat containing three men belonging to the yacht Mignonette, bound from London to Sydney, but abandoned at sea, was picked up south of the Equator. A boy who left the yacht with others died on the nineleenth day after abandoning the vessel, and was eaten by the survivors. A vessel containing a cargo of boats intended for use on the River Nile in connection with the projected British expedition into Soudan will leave London on Monday. The remainder of the boats are to be sent to Egypt shortly.
