Mr. J. W. Thomson, who had been entrusted with the formation of the new Ministry, yesterday afternoon waited upon his Excellency the Governor, and stated his inability to do so. The Governor thereupon sent for Sir George Grey, who attended at Government House between five and six o’clock, and had a long interview with his Excellency, with the result that Sir George has undertaken the responsibility of forming a Ministry. The W eat Coast Times’ parliamentary correspondent states that “ Messrs Larnach, Waknfi eld, and Tele were to have joii ed the Thomson Ministty, but as neither Grey nor Atkinson would join, T hoTwon did not -00.-M.- Vs Ministry ' on’.d stan; ve told his Excellency tVd V. ... ■ up the task. If Sir George Grey forms a Ministry he will ask for a dissolution if defeated.” Sir Julius Yogel ia said to be again seriously unwell.
