(Received August 1, 1.10 a.m.) London, July 31. The Kuglish, Scottish, and Australian Chartered Bank has declared a dividend for I lit; past half year at the rate of 10 percent, per annum, and carries forward and places to the reserve £20,000. King Tawhiao and the members of the Maori Embassy will have an audience of her Majesty the Queen to-day, at Osborne. The Daily News, in its issue this morning, publishes a telegram stating that a serious rising has occurred in the south-west province of El Yemen, on the Red Sea coast of Arabia. The Arab insurgents have declared themselves followers of El Mahdi, and have mustered in great force at Sana, the capital of the province, which has yielded to them, and they also captured several towns and villages. The Governor of the province found himself entirely unable to cope with the insurgents. The Porte has despatched a force of 10,000 troops to restore order. (Received August 1, 11 a.m.) Evening. The Liberal and Conservative organisation is now prosecuting an active campaign in London and the provinces in connection with the Franchise Bill, (Received August 1, 1 p.m.) The European Conference on Egyptian affairs met again to-day, hut was farther adjourned until Saturday next,
(Received August 1, 2.15 p.m.) It has transpired that the cause of the further adjournment of the Egyptian Conference is that Waddington, the French delegate, is not yet preprepared to agree to any final report on behalf of his Government. (Received August 1, 1.10 a.m.) St. Petersburg, July 30. Cholera in a mild type has appeared in this city, and cases have also occurred at Kharkov, in Southern Russia. (Received August 1, 1 p.m.) Shanghai, July 31. A report is current here to-day that the Chinese Government has agreed to pay France the sum of five millions sterling as reparation for the Langson affair. No confirmatory information on the subject, however, can be obtained. (Received August 1, 2.15 p.m.) Later. The amount which it is reported China is prepared to pay as an indemnity to the French is five million taels (say .£1,500,000) not five millions sterling, as stated in last telegram.
