BAKER AT HOME AGAIN.
Baker Pasha arrived in London on the evening of May 12tb. The Char-ing-cross platform and courtyard of the station were thronged witli spectators, by whom the gallant officer was greeted with a mosi enthusiastic reception. As soon as the train stopped, a number of officers and other personal friends pressed forward to welcome him. He appeared in excellent health, but wore a shade over his wounded eye. With some difficulty a passage was made through the cheering crowd, and upon reaching the court-yard, where a carriage was in waiting, a cry was raised to remove the horses, but this demand was not acceded to. Continuous cheers were raised by the bystanders, and a largo number of soldiers and sailors in uniform, as well as many ladies, were among the most demonstrative in their expressions of greeting. As the carriage containing General Baker, Mrs Baker, and their friends drove out of the station yard, a final volley of cheers was given, many amongst the crowd waving their hats as the gallant officer bowed his acknowledgment of the reception.
