DISASTROUS RAILWAY ACCIDENT NEAR OHIO, U.S.A. TWELVE PERSONS KILLED • TWENTY-FIVE INJURED. FRENCH CLAIM FOR INDEMNITY. OFFICIAL RECEPTION OF TAWHIAO. SPREAD OF THE CHOLERA IN FRANCE. (Received July 22, 0.53 a.m.) New York, July 20. A disastrous railway accident has occurred near Ohio. The train left the rails and fell over an embankment into the river. Twelve persons were drowned, and twenty-five others severely injured. Hong-Kong, July 20. Parleying regarding the French claim for indemnity on account of the Langson affair is still proceeding. It is considered that the prospects of an agreement being arrived at are improving. (Received July 22, 1 p.m.) London, July 21. It has transpired that Earl Derby, Secretary of State for the Colonies, will accord Tawhiao an official reception I at the Colonial Office to-morrow (Tuesday). Paris, July 20.
