The Kumara Supplementary Electoral Roll, dated 28th day of June, 1884, contains the names 168 electors. This minibea, added to the House of Representatives Electoral Roll, of July, 1883, brings the total number of persons whose names appear on both Rolls as electors to 1851; though through leaving the district, deaths, and other causes, the real number, we believe, is between 1300 and 1400 qualified electors. Mr Seddon addressed the electors at Callaghan’s last evening. It is said that all the qualified electors were present except one. Mr Peter Malone occupied the chair. At the conclusion of the candidate’s address, Mr Harbyson proposed a vote of confidence in Mr Seddon as a fit and proper person to represent them in the New Zealand Parliament. The motion was seconded by Mr Wm. Steel, and carried unanimously. Gentlemen favourable to the return of Mr R. J. Seddon to Parliament are requested to meet at the Empire Hotel, Hillman’s Town, to-morrow evening, at 8 o’clock, for the purpose of forming a committee to secure his election. Mr Seddon is announced to address the electors at the Theatre Royal, Kumara, on Saturday evening next, and at Hillman’s Town, on the Monday evening following, at both places at 8 o’clock. A Rattlesnake’s Bite. The quick venom of the rattlesnake has not killed so many people as the more insidious but deadly poisons found in the air of foul rooms. The aeration of the blood by the lungs becomes impossible sometimes, and the failing health, growing weakness, and loss of appetite are harbingers of approaching death. For such cases Hop Bitters are the potent and all-powerful remedy to drive all fevers out of the system, purifying the blood, and giving a new and happy lease of life. Notice £IOO Reward.— They cure all diseases of the stomach, bowels, blood, liver, nerves, and kidneys, and £IOO will be paid for a case they will not cure or help, or for anything impure or injurious found in them—Hop Bitters.
