[REUTER’S TELEGRAMS.] By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. >—•—< CRICKET. AUSTRALIANS V. NORTH OF ENGLAND. (Received June 21, 1,15 a.m.) London, June 19. The Australian team commenced a match to-day, at Manchester, against an eleven of the North of England. There was a very large attendance of spectators, and splendid weather was experienced. The Australians went in first and were all disposed of for 91 runs. The bowling of the Home team was excellent, and dead on the wicket. The highest scorer was Giffen, caught, for 19. When the stumps were drawn for the day, the Home team had lost six wickets for 187 runs. (Received June 21, 1.15 p.m, June 19, The north of England team, which is now playing against the Australians at Manchester, is composed of Messrs Docker, Hornby, Barlow, Barnes, Bath, Briggs, Crossland, Pete, Sherwin, Shrewsbury, and Ulyett.
In their first innings, the score of the Home team at the close of to-day’s play showed Hornby, caught, 94; Barnes, bowled, 67.
