WESTLAND COUNTY COUNCIL.

The following is a report of the remainder of the business pertaining to this district, transacted at the meeting of the County Council on Wednesday last:— DUNEDIN FLAT. The Chairman moved, “ That the County Engineer have carried out the necessary repairs to the track leading from Brown’s hut to Connell’s claim, Dunedin Elat, cost not to exceed £15.” Carried. KAPITEA HILL. The Chairman moved, “That the County Engineer by next meeting report on the approximate cost of lowering the grade of the second hill from the Kapitea Creek, Greenstone road.” Carried. THE PRICE OF WATER FOR SLUICING PURPOSES. The Chairman moved, “That thisCouncil urge on the Government the absolute necessity of making a reduction in the price of water sold to the miners on the Kumara goldfield, the present charge of £3 per head being most excessive, and detrimental to the mining interest of the district. That it be further urged on the Government, that the miners having contributed the large sum of £26,000 in the purchase of water on the Kumara goldfield, are fairly and equitably entitled to the concession now asked for. Also, that copies of the foregoing be sent to Messrs Seddon and FitzGera'd.”—Carried. MISCELLANEOUS. Resolutions were carried authorising the Chairman to visit the southern part of Westland; also appointing Messrs Low, Murphy, Duff, and Gibson the local managing committee of the Stafford cemetery. Accounts to the amount of £ll9O were passed for payment, after which the Council adjourned at midnight.
