Some cablegrams and local news are unavoidably held over. Commander Edwin wired shortly after noon to-day : —"Bad weather may be expected between north-east and north and west; glass fall in twelve hours, and wind backing, and good deal rain after ten hours."

Some handbills which are circulated with this evening's issue will remind the public of the entertainment to be given at the Theatre Royal to-morrow evening, by Miss Dargon, the highly gifted elocutionist and dramatic artiste ; and they also contain a programme from which this celebrated lady will give selections. Particularly the public are invited to come and hear "Fontenoy," or "Charge of the Irish Brigade,' " Old Bendigo," by Mr Bracken, M.H.R., of Dunedin, and Tennyson's "Charge of the Light Brigade." Lovely Climes. There are lovely climes and places in Avhich the evening zephyrs are loaded with malaria and the poison of fever and epidemics.
