Hanlan writes the following letter to Wellington : " Gentlemen—ln reply to your letter of the 21st March, I have to say that my visit to New Zealand will depend a good deal on what prospects are held out in the way of rowing exhibitions or matches. I am quite prepared to make a match with Hearn, the New Zealand champion, on the following terms:—Stakes to be £SOO a-side, and I to be allowed £l5O for expenses of going to New Zealand." Lottie Wilmott, well known throughout the colony, died at the flutt on Thursday. She had been ailing for some time. The funeral'of the child of one of the Salvation Army took place this afternoon. The procession was headed by the Army band, followed by the soldiers, then " Hallelujah lasses " and children. The ceremony was quite novel here, and was witnessed by a large number of spectators.
