(Received April 18, 10 p.m.) Adelaide, April 18. Arrived, this afternoon, the Messageries Maritimes Company's steamship Caledonia, from Marseilles, March 12. Sydney, April 18. Sailed, this evening, the Union steamship Te Anau, for Auckland. Melbourne, April 18. The Hon. Sir William Foster Stawell, Chief Justice of Victoria, will administer the government until the arrival 6f Sir Henry Loch, who has been appointed to succeed the Marquis of Normanby. The official inquiry into the recent disastrous railway collision near Little River station was opened to-day. The evidence taken was of a formal nature. Brisbane, April 18. The Hon. J. F. Garrick has been appointed to succeed Thos. Archer as Agent-General for Queensland in London. The Postmaster-Generalship, which thereby becomes vacant, has not as yet been filled.
