ST. ANDREW’S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH PICNIC.

* . Following on the choral service given on Good Friday evening by the choir of this church, which was successful in every respect, a picnic of the choir and bible class took place on Tuesday, on the banks of the Teremakau at the extreme end of Messrs Keech and Malloy’s paddock. Leaving the church at eleven o’clock, preceded by an old lady popularly known as “ Aunt Sally,” and borne by two young men, after which came a beautifully illuminated flag, carried by two young girls, and then followed by the rest of the company in marching order, accompanied among others by the Rev. George Hay and Mrs Hay, Mrs Williams (organist of the church), Mr John Williams, conductor of the recent choral service, Mr and Mrs Peters, Dill man’s Town, Mr and Mrs Fairbairn, Mr and Mrs Garvin, Mrs Nicholson, Mr Duncan Fisher, &c. On reaching the ground ' O O refreshments were abundantly dispensed; thereafter various sports were commenced and carried on with great zest, until nearly dark, when all began to wend their way homewards, greatly delighted with the day’s outing.
