The ordinary meeting of the Borough Council is appointed to be held this evening. Sir Julius and Lady Vogel, who may be expected to arrive in New Zealand today in the Tongariro from England, which left Hobart on Monday last for the Bluff, are accompanied by their eldest daughter, Master Vogel being left at school in England. At the sitting of the Waste Lauds Board at Hokitika yesterday, present— Chief Commissioner (J. Giles, Esq.), the Hon. J. A. Bonar, and Messrs Ohesney and Robinson, the application of Thomas Peart to have 50 acres thrown open for agricultural leasing was postponed for further inquiry. The Board approved of the transfer of deferred-payment sections 54 and 55, block XIII., Hohenu Survey District, from W. O’Hagan to Thomas Peart. —A letter from the County Chairman, asking that the cemeteries at Golclsborough, Stafford, and Okavito, may be reserved under the “Cemeteries Act, 1832," was postponed for iuqurv as to the paq ,c coi.i’se. All accounts against the Hospital Fete Committee are required to be forwarded to the Treasurer, Mr Wm. Nicholson, before five o’clock to-morrow evening. A meeting of the HospiPil Fete Committee will be held in the Town Hall tomorrow evening, at eight o’clock. Tenders are required on or before Monday next for the supply of firewood to the Kmnara State School Committee. Particulars can be obtained from Mr A. C. Campbell, to whom the tenders are to be addressed.
